TEST STRIPS FOR BacSafe™
These test strips are the widest
range available on the market. They are designed for ranges of BacSafe™ from 10-160 ppm. They are convenient and come
packaged in an airtight plastic vial of 50 test strips each. Simply dip the test strip and read the appropriate intensity
of the color strip within 15-30 seconds. Reading taken beyond 30 seconds are unreliable.
These strips can be used
quite effectively, especially in systems that are very high in salt brine and other electrolytes. In this case most test procedures
involving thiosulfate-based titration are quite unreliable and inaccurate and will lead to false incorrect high concentrations.
This is true even for BacSafe’s Titration procedure, which is otherwise the most reliable on the market.
Most
organic matter, electrolyte and salt/brine solutions do not affect these test strips for their accuracy, so they can be relied
upon to give reasonably accurate and quick results for the majority of use applications. Remember that these test strips of
this type will NOT give complete color matches. One must depend on the relative depth of shading by comparing the two closest
matches, and the actual result will undoubtedly fall within the “range: between the two color shades, which is usually
accurate enough for evaluation purposes. More precise concentrations can be achieved using BacSafe’s drop test procedure,
excepted as noted in the preceding paragraph.
